Paid dates and a current source conflict

The page says both that the annual program runs May 15 to October 15 and that the 2026 paid season has ended. That ended notice was already present on the October 14 checked date. Follow the live city notice and signs rather than assuming a payment is needed from the calendar range alone.

Named paid holidays are Victoria Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving. McLaughlin Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation are excluded. The page names Indigenous Cultural Celebration and Events in the Park among covered city events.

Resident permit documents and processing

Provide the green vehicle ownership document and proof of residency showing the owner’s name and Oshawa address. Examples are a driver’s licence, a utility bill from the last 60 days or a current-year property tax bill. Apply online or at Service Oshawa. Allow up to three business days for confirmation.

Permits must be renewed each year. There is no paper pass to display: approved plates are held in the licence-plate recognition system. Multiple household vehicles are allowed, but each needs its own registration.

Business, student, rental and new-resident cases

An Oshawa business vehicle can qualify with ownership and business-address proof. An employee using a business vehicle may need a pay stub, business card or company letter connecting them to the business.

New residents whose ownership address is not yet updated can supply matching name and Oshawa residency proof. Non-resident property owners can provide property ownership proof. Students using a parent-owned car need proof of access, such as an insurance listing, plus Oshawa residency proof. Rental vehicles must be registered in person with the rental agreement; the permit expires with that agreement.

Examples that do not qualify

A visitor’s vehicle, a caregiver’s vehicle registered outside Oshawa, and someone who merely works in Oshawa do not qualify on that basis. Short-term tenants with a non-Oshawa vehicle address do not automatically qualify. Motorhomes, trailers, buses and other vehicles that cannot fit one stall are excluded.

For an uncertain case, call Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311 or email service@oshawa.ca. A rejected or unreadable application must be submitted again with clear valid documents. Incorrect plates can be re-registered; ask Service Oshawa to remove the old entry.
