What a permit allows

A permit approves the activity in the park. It does not give exclusive rights over a particular area. Groups must share space with the public and other permit holders.

At the Memory Garden, guests should wait until a ceremony ends before using that area for photographs. A photography permit can cover multiple areas, but a ceremony may make one area temporarily unavailable. City closures must still be followed.

Chairs, decorations and cleanup

Send the Facility Booking Office a photograph of hired chairs and the supplier’s details as part of the application. Guests bringing their own chairs may use lawn or camping chairs. All decorations need city approval before the rental date.

The permit holder handles setup and takedown unless another arrangement was made with the office. Remove litter and restore the site. Do not drive or park on lawns: vehicles may use only designated parking, driveways and roads.

Choose the setting

The Botanical Gardens’ Memory Garden pergola can provide a small ceremony setting, but there are no public washrooms at the gardens. Lakeview Park connects with the creek path and Waterfront Trail.

At Lakeview Park, the Jubilee Pavilion holds sole concession rights. Outside catering or corporate food services are not permitted. The Pavilion hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions.
